So the trees are blossoming, which reminds me that spring is coming, meaning it will hopefully get warmer soon.I'm so thankful to God that I'm not flaring up like last year. Last year, I blew up in a crazy rash, and had hay fever like never before. I believe it is because it was my first year in my new house, and I wasn't used to the big bloomin' tree out the front. (pardon the pun!)
Prac ends at the end of the week. Although I have spent a lot of time feeling like a failure and not up to 4th year standard, today I walked away with a smile on my face. I planned and helped run a whole school "Indonesia day". Quite honestly, there was so much I could cover, it should be an Indonesia week.
So that is a good thing that has happened this week. Often I feel like a bit of a clown, but I think my confidence is growing. I know that there are so many more areas as a teacher I really need work on, and perhaps some people think I'm not up to scratch as a 4th year. But that's ok. Some of us are born-natural teachers. Some people have it in their blood. I seem to be neither. But as a teacher, I know I will never stop learning, I will never stop reflecting on my performance. And that is what is upmostly important.

Wow cool! I'm running an Indo day at the end of this term, too. What kind of ideas can you share with me?
sure steff.
We cooked: nasi goreng and krupuk.. Other ideas could be banana fritters, nasi kuning.. I know a great place in Glenferrie to buy Indo food products. But definately do the krupuk, because they are a great hit!
Other things I had were dressups in traditional dress. Looking at the flag (and the art against it)
Also the panscilla, and a jigsaw to do with it.
I have a few resources, you can try.
I also did a buddy maths where students had to stick 1 grain of rice on a map of australia and Indonesia for a million people. So there was an odd 20 on Au and 230 on Indo. Lots of fun: kept them busy. (But model!)
If you have access to an interactive whiteboard: use it for singing songs off languages online. Ad use gogle earth to zoom in on cities and places. In fact, any songs are great!
Show lots about your experiences in Kendari too.
And if you can, bring in a native speaker! I planned to have Telmy in, but she couldnt make it.
Hope this helps..
Sammy xx
